Mark Simons was the recipient of the Planetology Section Outstanding Student Paper Award at the AGU Spring Meeting in Baltimore, Md., last May, for his paper “Geoidto-Topography Ratios on Venus: A Global Perspective.”

Simons is a Ph.D. student in the Earth, Atmospheric, and Planetary sciences department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He received his B.S. in geophysics and space physics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
