The Phillips Petroleum Company has awarded $15,000 over 3 years to the Association of Women Geoscientists to support travel and operating expenses for the AWG Speakers Bureau. Over 190 women geoscientists are available to speak on a wide range of topics in the geosciences, including plate tectonics, paleoclimatology, seafloor magnetization, tsunamis, seismic imaging, science and public policy, lunar volcanology, karst aquifers, and island arc volcanos.
Not-for-profit, non-government institutions are invited to apply for travel grants to host a Phillips-AWG Distinguished Lecture. The awards will reimburse up to $300 in travel expenses for a woman geoscientist listed with the AWG Speakers Bureau.
