The presented mobile multiantenna scanning diversity system for terrestrial TV highly improves the reception in cars making use of four active broadband TV antennas. The diversity systems for picture and sound choose independently from each other the optimum antenna signal among the four TV antennas based upon different diversity criteria. An indicator sensitive to the RF level evaluates the picture quality at the end of each video line. The TV sound is optimized by application of a diversity processor originally designed for FM broadcasting and is available now as an integrated circuit. This processor is sensitive to noise, multipath distortions, and three types of interferences: cochannel, adjacent channel, and intermodulation interferences.
