Abstract

A new display will allow visitors to the U.S. Geological Survey National Center in Reston, Va., to view local weather conditions and the changing flow of the Potomac and other major rivers.

The earthquake exhibit includes a touch screen display to let the visitor pick the subject; it also can offer a readout of recent significant earthquakes around the world, a chart of the latest U.S. earthquakes, a quiz on California's earthquake faults, or a description of the big Loma Prieta-San Francisco Bay earthquake of 1989.
