A. E. Ringwood: A remembrance



Alfred Edward (Ted) Ringwood died of lymphatic cancer at the age of 62 in Canberra on November 12, 1993. Ted fought extremely bravely, as he did in his science. His wife, Gunn, and two grown children, Kristina and Peter, survive him.

Ted Ringwood was one of the giants of the solid Earth sciences in the second half of this century. He published more than 300 papers and two books. He was a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences (at age 45), a Fellow of the Australian Academy (at 36), the Royal Society, and others.
