Developing a better understanding of how human activities influence the Earth's natural systems will require cooperation among scientists from around the world. Thus efforts to educate scientists in developing countries must be included in any global change research program. For these reasons, education issues, especially in developing countries, are on the agenda for both the International Geosphere and Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the International Global Atmospheric Chemistry Project (IGAC).
