The U.S. Global Change Research Program (USGCRP) has been active for a decade and is currently being reviewed by the National Research Council. Today, however, global change research has made it possible to manage sustained development in a way that recognizes climate change. By adopting several policy actions and refocusing some of its research, USGCRP could encourage sustained development.
