Abstract

In response to forecasts that the 1999 Atlantic hurricane season could be highly active, the American Red Cross is recommending that people in hurricane impact zones take measures to prepare for and mitigate against potentially devastating storms.

“Given the huge toll last year's hurricane season took on the United States, the Caribbean, and Central America, we should take all necessary precautions as the 1999 hurricane season gets underway” said Steve Bullock, acting president of the American Red Cross.
