For the past several years, the California Department of Water Resources and the Coast and Geodetic Survey have cooperated in a broad program of monitoring crustal movement along the San Andreas fault system. A very significant part of this work has been accomplished by the Department of Water Resources under the direction of Renner B. Hofmann. The results of approximately eight years of concentrated work are published in Bulletin 116-6, ‘Geodimeter fault movement investigations in California.’ I recommend that everyone who is interested in this problem obtain a copy of this report and use it for reference.
