The International Seminar for Hydrology Professors (ISHP), the first of its kind in the United States, was held at the University of Illinois, Urbana, from July 13 to 25, 1969. The seminar was attended by 133 participants from 20 countries and from 35 of the 50 United States. In addition, many faculty members of the University of Illinois audited various sessions without direct participation.
The principal objectives of the seminar were to acquaint professors of hydrology and related subjects with new technical developments related to hydrology, to examine the current status and needs in hydrological education, and to explore new directions for hydrological teaching and research. The seminar was directed by Ven Te Chow, Professor of Hydraulic Engineering, University of Illinois.
