The Department of Geophysical Sciences at the University of Chicago has announced a new program of study in Fluid Dynamics with special emphasis on natural phenomena occurring in the atmosphere and the oceans. The academic program consists of a series of core courses in Geophysical Fluid Dynamics followed by advanced lecture and experimental courses in areas of current interest, leading to the student's participation in his own advanced research. A close, scholarly relation between students and faculty members is made possible by a low student-faculty ratio. There are currently nine faculty in the program.
