The American Meteorological Society will hold a special symposium on ‘The Dynamics of the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere,’ at the University of Colorado, Boulder, on June 15–18, 1970. General subject areas, as applied to the middle atmosphere (30–100 km), are: radiative processes and the distribution of radiative sources and sinks; composition and photochemistry; observations and theoretical models of the general circulation; motions on different scales such as gravity waves, synoptic and Rossby-Haurwitz (planetary waves, tidal oscillations; energetics of atmospheric motions; phenomena involving interactions between different atmospheric regions; interaction of dynamics and composition (including transport processes). Titles and abstracts of up to 400 words must be submitted before March 15, 1970, for review.
