An Author Produced Program. The deadline for submitting abstracts of papers to be presented at AGU meetings was for many years about three months before the meeting date. Authors are now asked to submit abstracts in good form for reproduction by photo-offset, thus reducing the time allotted for publishing procedures to 84 days for the present meeting. Since January has 31 days, February has 28 days, and March has 31 days, a simple calculation shows that a full 6 days have been saved thus allowing a much more up-to-date abstract. In truth, the author plans to spend the time on the ski slopes acquiring a tan—evidence for which will be presented.
