US-Japan Science Program: United States-Japan Cooperative Science Program Fourth Seminar on Paleomagnetism Honolulu, Hawaii, February 2”6, 1970

Geophysicists and geologists from Japan and the United States met in Honolulu, February 2 through 6, 1970, to discuss rock magnetism, paleomagnetism, and geomagnetism in a seminar held at the East-West Center of the University of Hawaii as part of the United States-Japan Cooperative Science Program. This fourth meeting of the paleomagnetism series—on The History of the Geomagnetic Field Revealed from Paleomagnetic Studies of the Pacific Ocean Floor and Circum-Pacific Areas—followed an organizational meeting at Tokyo in 1962, a second meeting at Berkeley in 1964, and a third meeting at Kyoto in 1966. During the meeting 40 papers were presented by 18 scientists from the United States and 10 from Japan. Four other scientists from the United States were in attendance.
