A National Science Foundation grant of $385,600 to the University of Southern California will make possible the beginning of a major Sea Grant activity in that state.
Four institutions that have already demonstrated capability to serve their region and the nation as major resources in marine affairs are also receiving renewal grants. They are: Oregon State University, which will receive $1.4 million, the University of Rhode Island, which was granted $.9 million, the University of Michigan, receiving $.72 million, and the University of Miami, which was allotted $.75 million.
