The U.S. Geological Survey is sponsoring an intensive, long-term watershed monitoring study to determine the effect of materials in underground water drainage on the quality of river water. Caryl E. Buchwald, Assistant Professor of geology at Carleton College, will direct the study which will take place on the Carleton campus. He will measure seasonal variations in underground and river water levels and will also measure any differences in content between water from four wells in the Cannon River watershed on campus and water from the river.
