This letter is in reference to the comments made by Robert Cohen in the February Forum (‘Call for Rehearsal’).

Having been exposed during my career to a considerable number of scientific papers presented at various society meetings, I must endorse Cohen's suggestion most enthusiastically. I must confess that the presentation of many papers is painfully poor. Cohen's suggestion that the talk be subjected to an oral review is a very good one. But I would like to add that even if this is not possible, practice by the author in advance of the meeting would effect an improvement in the smoothness of the presentation.
