Plans for expanded research efforts in the arctic have been outlined by Thomas B. Owen, Assistant Director for National and International Programs, National Science Foundation. NSF is seeking $3.5 million for the Arctic Research Program. Owen indicated that NSF plans to support several new or expanded projects in the far north that will increase our understanding of the environment as it pertains to the rational use and development of the arctic region.
