Abstract

A National Information Center for Earthquake Engineering to provide professional structural engineers and designers with information necessary for the design and construction of safer and more durable buildings, bridges, and other stnictures, will be established in California.

According to an NSF official, the primary goal of the center will be to fill the gap that often exists between research results and the practical problems of the engineer and designer. The center will gather all known research information about earthquake engineering, organize and atsess it, and disseminate it to users who will apply the knowledge to practical problems.
