Abstract

Information collected by astronomers training their telescopes on the stars will be put to work in the study of earth's air pollution. The project will be made possible by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

An innovative pooling of astronomical and space techniques by a University of Washington team will probe the earth's atmosphere by means not previously tried on a project of such large scale, nor with air pollution primarily in mind.
