A report to be issued at the end of the summer by the Air Pollution Control Administration of the Environmental Protection Agency will highlight the tenuous nature of projections of national manpower needs in the pollution control field.
Only a year ago, the agency predicted manpower requirements by 1974 of 8000–9000 workers in air pollution work, an increase of some 300% over 1969 levels. These predictions, made at congressional hearings, were termed ‘conservative’ at the time and were expected to be revised upward.
