A daily X-ray map that will show the source and level of X-ray activity on the sun is one major objective of a satellite package being developed by Lockheed Missiles and Space Company.
Described as a ‘mapping X-ray heliometer,’ the package is being prepared under contract to NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center for flight aboard Oso-I, which will scan the sun.
