Abstract

The problems of land subsidence will probably become more common and more serious in vulnerable areas throughout the world, according to Joseph F. Poland, a hydrologist of the U.S. Geological Survey. He noted that new attention has been drawn to the problems of land sinking because of the recently-published Proceedings of the International Symposium on Land Subsidence held September 1969 in Tokyo.
