On Page 656 of the September issue of EOS there appeared a column of wastepaper in the form of an ad by the Advertising Council. The ad suggests that readers write for a booklet on ‘71 Things You Can Do to Stop Pollution.’
The Council has circulated other ads with the engaging theme ‘People Start Pollution. People Can Stop It.’ On the surface, this thesis is logically impossible to refute. But what the Council does not do—and understandably so—is to suggest that people can only significantly reduce pollution by changing their life styles and consuming habits.
