National Academy award commemorates pioneer in pollution control

Abstract

Progress in controlling and improving environmental quality through scientific or technological means will be honored by an annual award announced jointly the National Academy of Sciences and Research Corporation of New York. The Frederick Gardner Cottrell Award for Environmental Quality and honorarium of $5000, administered by a fivemember committee named by the Academy, was awarded for the first time at the annual meeting of the National Academy of Sciences on April 24.
