Abstract

An international organization called the International Water Resources Association (IWRA) has recently been established in response to the need for an international focal point to promote interdisciplinary communication between professionals of diverse backgrounds working on all kinds of water resources problems. IWRA has been incorporated as a nonprofit organization with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The principal objectives of IWRA are: to advance water resources planning, development, management, administration, science, technology, research, and education on an international level; to establish an international forum for planners, administ rators, managers, scientists, engineers, educators, and others who are concerned with water resources; and to encourage coordination and support of international programs in the field of water resources, including cooperation with the United Nations and its agencies and other international and national organizations in activities of common interest.
