The U.S. Geological Survey has established, for overall administrative purposes, three regions each of which encompasses approximately onethird of the nation.
The three regions, Eastern, Central, and Western, will replace the four regions previously maintained by the Geological Survey. Each of the three regions will include several of President Nixon's ten administrative regions and have common boundaries with them.
