Toward an energy ethic



Nationalistic, greedy, myopic, unfeeling, ignorant-these are the words that so frequently enter current dialogs on energy resources. Enter or end them. For often what starts as a dialog ends in an exchange of charges. The issues continue unresolved.

Although important topics frequently lead to heated exchanges, for energy resources there is a deeper set of causes at work. There are disagreements as to the nature or even the existence of the problem. There are differences in the types of consequences that are of primary concern. There is no commonly accepted and suitable framework within which to resolve many of the fundamental issues.
