NSF awards grant to study geothermal area in Montana

The National Science Foundation announced support for research that could be the first step toward development of a hot geothermal area that appears to be located near the earth's surface in the vicinity of Marysville, central Montana.

The NSF funding in the amount of $250,200, covers completion of a series of geophysical surveys and selection of a test well site. The project will be directed by the Battelle Memorial Institute's Pacific Northwest Laboratories branch at Richland, Washington.
