The Tenth General Assembly of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH) was held in Panama City, April 22–May 9, 1973. Concurrently, there were consultative meetings of its four commissions: cartography, geography, geophysics, and history. Meetings of PAIGH are of interest to AGU because part of the content is geophysics and because the meetings serve to bring together geophysical scientists and program managers from the western hemisphere. There were over 400 registered participants at this assembly from 21 countries in the western hemisphere. There were 13 observers from Europe.
