Abstract

Two special symposia are planned in connection with the Annual Meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in San Francisco, February 27 and 28, 1974. Both will be given under the auspices of Section W (Atmospheric and Hydrospheric Sciences). The symposium on ‘Remote Sensing Applications for Water Resources Monitoring’ will include papers on Advances in Water Resources Monitoring from Space, by V.V. Salomonson; Nimbus Microwave Spectrometer Observations, by D.H. Staelin; Radar for Rainfall Monitoring, by E. Kessler and K.E.Wilk; Application of Remote Sensing to Water Resources Monitoring in California, R.H. Burgy; Mapping Atlantic Coastal Wetlands Using ERTS-1 and Sky lab Data, by R.R. Anderson and V. Carter; Snow and Ice Observations from Space, by J.C. Barnes; Microwave Measurements of Soil Moisture, by T.J. Schmugge; and Remote Sensing for Groundwater Exploration and Management, by M. Deutsch.
