A half-day Symposium on the International Field Year for the Great Lakes was held as part of the hydrology and meteorology program of the Fifty-Fifth Annual Meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Approximately 140 persons attended the symposium, which was organized as a joint United States–Canadian contribution to the International Hydrological Decade.
The organizing committee consisted of T.L. Richards and E.J. Aubert, the Canadian and U.S. co-chairmen of the Joint Management Team; H.S. Santeford of the U.S. IHD Secretariat; and E.L. The committee is to be congratulated for their organization and especially for ensuring that advance copies of the papers were available at the meeting.
