Accurate mapping on the continental shelf

AGU's committee on Marine Geodesy is preparing a program for a session on ‘Navigation for Accurate Mapping on the Continental Shelf,’ to be held in San Diego, Claifornia, on September 23. The session is cosponsored by the International Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, the Marine Technology Society, and AGU, and is scheduled in conjuction with the joint meeting of the IEEE and MTS being held from September 22 to 26.

The session will be divided into two sessions: (1) an ‘open working group’ type meeting where invited participants will discuss the suitability of various present and possible future navigational equipment for accurate mapping of the coastal zone, and (2) presentation of papers on ‘Positioning in the Deep Ocean’ and ‘Navigation for Accurate Mapping on the Continental Shelf/Coastal Zone.’
