The First International Symposium on Induced Seismicity (ISIS) is being organized by the Institute of Earth and Planetary Physics, University of Alberta, Edmonton, in cooperation with Unesco, the National Research Council of Canada, and the Department of Energy, Mines and Resources, Canada. It will be held at the university on September 15 to 19, 1975.
The main concern of the meeting is to focus attention on the problems of adverse induced seismicity associated with engineering activities such as reservoir impounding, fluid injection, and mining excavation, and to identify future research needs related to induced seismicity.
