Abstract

During 1976 the membership of the DPS (Division for Planetary Sciences) of the American Astronomical Society (AAS) passed 300, with about 50 members in the affiliate category (scientists active in planetary science but not belonging to the AAS may apply for affiliate membership in the division). As usual the major activity of the division was the annual meeting, held last year in Austin, Texas. Donald M. Hunten of Kitt Peak Observatory was elected Vice Chairman, and M. J. S. Belton of Kitt Peak and Tom Gehrels of the University of Arizona were elected to the Division Committee. William A. Baum of Lowell Observatory succeeded Carl Sagan of Cornell University as Chairman, and Torrence V. Johnson of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory was elected by the committee to succeed David Morrison as Secretary-Treasurer for this year.
