Abstract

Data from the Japanese Geostationary Meteorological Satellite (GMS) Himawari (Sunflower) are to be delivered routinely to the Meteorological Satellite Center and are available directly or through the World Data Center C-2 for Rockets and Satellites.

GMS is part of the Global Atmospheric Research Program and is primarily a meteorological satellite. However, its payload also includes a 16-channel solar energetic particle monitor. Its data formats are expected to be similar to the SMS/Goes format for the same type of information. At least hourly mean values of each channel will be published monthly.
