AGU is pleased to announce the creation of a scholarship program for women pursuing a degree in the atmospheric sciences. The $400 annual award is provided through a gift from June Bacon-Bercey. Bacon-Bercey, a meteorologist with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, has held positions in television weather forecasting and with the National Weather Service as a forecaster, an analyst, a radar meteorologist, and an aviation meteorologist. She has also served as a consultant to the former Atomic Energy Commission and as an oceanographer.
