Abstract

Hundreds of professional and amateur astronomers are planning to converge on a narrow path in the northwestern United States and central Canada on February 26 to observe this century's last total solar eclipse in North America.

The eclipse will begin at about 1609 universal time (UT), when the moon's shadow will touch the earth at sunrise in the northwest Pacific Ocean west of the state of Washington.
