Abstract

Three years after NASA's Viking spacecraft has landed on Mars, scientists at Jet Propulsion Laboratory are still receiving data from one orbiter and two landers.

The Viking mission has gone into a fourth major stage, called the survey mission, and the first data from that period have been received at J P L The survey mission is scheduled to continue through 1990, more than 15 years after the spacecraft were launched.
