Abstract

A new NBS report analyzes in detail the tentative seismic design provisions developed for NBS by the Applied Technology Council, which is associated with the Structural Engineers Association of California. The report, by two researchers in the NBS Center for Building Technology and a Carnegie-Mellon University civil engineering professor, is intended to assist standards writers, code officials, and other specialists concerned with efforts to strengthen the earthquake resistance of buildings. It is organized to facilitate effective use of the earlier-developed provisions.
