Roger M. Stewart has been named deputy chief, Office of Earthquake Studies, at the USGS National Center, Reston, Virginia.

Doyle G. Frederick, 44, a career cartographer with the U.S. Geological Survey, has been named associate chief of the USGS Topographic Division. Frederick joined the U.S. Geological Survey in 1973, and prior to holding his present position, was chief of the Topographic Division's Office of Plans and Program Development. A successor to Frederick has not yet been named.

Anand Prakash has joined the Denver office of Dames and Moore as chief water resources engineer. His new position will involve him in a wide variety of water resources projects in the United States and abroad.
