Landsat 2 back in service

Abstract

After a retirement of nearly 6 months, NASA's 5-yearold Landsat 2 spacecraft is back in service.

The spacecraft, which was designed to study the earth's resources from space, was ‘revived’ following intensive efforts by NASA engineers to restore operations and through the development of a new ‘magnetics’ technique which helps keep the polar-orbiting spacecraft stabilized.
