Abstract

The AGU is a corporation with an annual cash flow of ap proximately $5,000,000. The Council of the Union is the board of directors of this corporation and bears the full legal responsibility for its actions. In accord with the Union statutes the Council has vested day-to-day operating authority in the executive director and full-time staff. The executive director is held accountable to the Council for the conduct of Union affairs within policies and guidelines laid down by it in the same way that the president of any corporation is accountable to his or her board of directors.
