Abstract

Presidential science advisor George A. Keyworth, II, promised scientists that the general health of basic scientific research would not be imperiled in President Reagan's fiscal 1983 budget proposal, due out next week.

‘I assure you that although the Administration is aggressively seeking solutions to our nation's economic and industrial malaise we intend in no way to compromise our future health by jeopardizing the basic research that serves as the foundation for our science and technology,’ he said in the January 3 keynote address to the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
