This is a collection of 46 edited papers presented at the Joint IUTAM/IUGG International Symposium on Monsoon Dynamics, Delhi, 1977. Obviously, there is not even enough space here to mention all the titles and authors. So this review has to be limited to general comments pertaining to the major strong and weak aspects of the volume.
The 46 papers (chapters) are grouped into five main parts: part I, the large scale climatology of the tropical atmosphere; II, the summer monsoon over the Indian subcontinent and East Asia; III, the physics and dynamics of the Indian Ocean during summer monsoon; IV, some important mathematical modeling techniques; and V, storm surges and flood forecasting. Each of the first three parts is also divided into two subparts: subpart a, observational studies; α, modeling and theoretical studies.
