Abstract

Streamflow conditions throughout most of the nation continued to average normal to well-above normal during July, the second straight month of well-above normal flows, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.

USGS hydrologists reported that 95% of the 164 key index gauging stations across the country reported normal or above-normal streamflow conditions during July. In June, 90% of the same 164 stations had reported normal to above-normal flows. The higher streamflows in July produced mild to severe flooding in Nevada, Wyoming, and Colorado and record-breaking floods in parts of Illinois, Iowa, and Pennsylvania.
