September streamflow

Above-average streamflows dominated water conditions in the West for the 15th consecutive month, according to the September check of national water conditions by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). High flows were reported from Washington to southern California and eastward to central Colorado (see map, courtesy of USGS).

In contrast, drier than usual conditions—with streamflows well below average—prevailed in the East and South. Low streamflows were also reported in the Ohio River valley, Kentucky, and Tennessee, and drought conditions worsened in west Texas, where no appreciable rainfall has occurred this year.
