In fiscal 1984, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) is budgeted for a 2.3% increase in funding over fiscal 1983. Although the fiscal year began on October 1, the Department of Interior appropriations bill, which includes the USGS budget, was not signed into law until nearly a month later.
