Abstract

The William Bowie Medal is presented annually to recognize outstanding contributions to fundamental geophysics and for unselfish cooperation in research. The first award was made in 1939 to William Bowie. Three hydrologists have received the award: Oscar Edward Meinzer (1943); Johannes Theodoor Thijsse (1958); and Walter B. Langbein (1969).
