Abstract

Flows of most of the nation's streams were average to well above average for February, while well below average flows persisted in parts of the Northeast and the far Northwest, according to a regular end of the month check on water resources conditions by the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Department of the Interior.

USGS hydrologists said that 82% of the key index stream-gaging stations reporting for February recorded flows that were average to well above average. Of the 174 stations, 34% (60 stations) reported well above average flows, 48% (83 stations) reported average flows, and only 18% (31 stations) reported flows that were well below average for February.
